Facundo Pellistri is one of the most extraordinary cases of 2022. Without debuting with the Manchester United first team and spending a loan at Alavés in which he has been losing importance over the months, he has consolidated himself in the national team with the new coach, Diego Alonso.
Style of Play
He is a right winger, who can play as a second striker or left winger, noted for his electrifying ability and outstanding pace.
The play in which his qualities stand out is receiving in a standby position, a first touch that directs his run, carrying the ball close to his foot at great speed and making good dribbles.
Despite his great 1vs1 and good skills, he needs to improve his decision making on key passes and how to finish plays. He lacks shooting accuracy, posting poor numbers so far.
His time in La Liga has made him stronger, winning more duels.
Injuries
Ankle sprain in July 22/23. His return is expected by the end of September 22/23.
Projection
His progression in the national team is beyond doubt and despite the injury suffered in preseason, it’s expected that he will go to the World Cup.
His high level in Peñarol made the expectations too great for what he has shown in recent times, so it would be important to see him in a dominating team that suits his style of play. It will be then when we’ll know the projection of Pellistri.
