Hugo Ekitike is one of the diamonds in European football that has more eyes on him. His height, striking and agility have caused him to be constantly watched. Hamstring problems and being a player to be refined had given several teams doubts, although he finally joined PSG on loan until the end of the 22/23 season, with an option to buy.
Style of Play
He is a player who stands out for his movements without the ball, having an elite first touch. He is in constant movement, being very agile at all times, with a tendency to position himself towards the left wing.
With the ball, he is excellent in the hold-up play and making runs with a lot of space thanks to his great stride and changes of speed. Ekitike has problems with his footwork in situations inside the area or under pressure, having difficulty maneuvering. His best plays are with few touches and in zones close to the box.
He is a great finisher, improving his numbers year after year, it’s impossible to see how far he can go. Very good at first-time finishes inside the area, shooting coming off the dribble and from medium distance. He needs to improve his header and look for more shooting situations.
Injuries
Problems with his hamstrings have made him miss 3 months of the 2021/2022 season, caused some doubts by different teams about his health.
Projection
If he develops his body to win more duels, getting stronger and continuing to evolve his game at a tactical level, we are looking at a player who, despite not being top level technically, can easily reach the elite.
