The reigning world champions made their debut with a great game in possession. They struggled at the start of the game, pressing in a rather uncoordinated manner and conceding the first goal.

From that goal the game changed completely and France, organised by Tchouaméni and Griezmann, were very precise on the ball. Constant changes of position, a lot of movements off the ball and Giroud finishing everything inside the box.

It remains to be seen if France improve without possession when the round of 16 arrives.
