World Cup 2022: Arabia Saudi’s Defensive Organization vs Argentina – Analysis

Hervé Renard’s team executed their plan to perfection and managed to pull off the win against one of the favourites, Argentina.

Despite Messi’s early penalty goal, the Saudi Arabian players kept a very high defensive line, not dropping back to chase down the attackers, leaving the Argentinians always offside.

In addition, the little space left between the lines and the reactivity to prevent the midfielders from receiving comfortably was enough to stop Scaloni’s team.

If we add to this the great success in the few dangerous situations they had and not getting nervous in the last part of the match, defending inside their own area with defensive lines of up to 6 players, these are sufficient reasons to achieve one of the biggest surprises in the history of the World Cup.
